1:59a ~ Emulation is all the rage!!
It looks like times will be chaning for the emulation community. I found this site called Console Classix, and they offer 100% free, legal emulation.

You register an account (free), download the client (free), and play (free). The client is the emulator and ROM browser all in one. The games are on an online server, and choose the one you want to play, click on Load, wait for it to load, and play away.

Good sound, great emulation, excellent speed (no lag on my 56k modem). What more can you ask for?

NoA sent them a letter (dated 6/21/01) telling them what they were doing was piracy, and they sent a letter back explaing why it's not. NoA has left them alone since.

Basically, the site is run like a video rental store. They have 1 ROM image for each cart they own, with multiple imgaes for games they have multiple carts of. When someone is playing a ROM, their client reports it as locked, and no one else can play that ROM. Oh, as their letter to NoA said, they dump their own roms with their own home made eprom reader.

Currently, you're limited to NES games, but they're working on SNES games, with dev help from the zSNES team

If you sign up, feel free to list me as a referal (Name: Elric). This doesn't seem to do anything yet, but it may in the future...

If this catches on, you can be sure it will change the world of emulation forever.

6:06a ~ Move out!
Woo! New domain name! Please update your links & bookmarks to point to http://eds.castledragmire.com. There's a redirect script at the old URL, but I don't know how long Darkside plans to keep it there.

Concerning Console Classix: Well, it turns out that there will eventually be a pay version, which sucks. I don't believe in paying to play ANY game online, so I probably won't be using it much longer...

For those of you who like Gauntlet 4 for the Genesis, I've written and submitted the first FAQ for it at GameFAQs. It's just a Character FAQ, since there's not really a need for a walkthough. Feel free to check it out.

I'll be leaving for my vacation in the Bahamas on Tuesday, but with the way I update this site, you'll never miss me...
