12:43a ~ All Kinds of Stuff!
Hoo-boy! This update is Chock Full O' Stuff +5™! In "order", as I
think of them:
Directly above the new poll (see below for info on it) is a new link:
Webstats. This will let you view the various statistics for this site,
if you care...
I've finally thought of a new poll. As you can see, it focuses on Square,
and the Final Fantasy series. See, in my latest issue of PSM, they have a
little blurb about the Final Fantasy 1 & 2(j) remake for the PSX. Then,
on Square-Haven, they have news about Square rereleasing Final
Fantasy's 7, 8, and 9 for the PS2.
Now, if Square were to decide that they're only going to bring one of
those two projects to the US (or whatever your country of residence may
be), which one would you rather have? If you vote, I'd like to ask you
to leave a comment stating what choice you made, and why you
made it. As you can see, I voted for bringing the FF1 & 2 remakes over,
mainly because, along with the Gameboy Advance remake of Final Fantasy
3(j), the US would finally have all 10 titles in the series (as
it currently stands).
On Sunday, September 29, I recieved an e-mail (which you can read here)
from Aaron J. Ethridge, the President of Console Classix, concerning my
August 21 update about them becoming a pay site. Basically, they will
remain a free site for any console that is older than the NES
(inclusive). Newer consoles will be available on a payment basis, at a
cost of $5/month for unlimited access. Now, $5/month isn't a bad price,
and it's only $60/year. For those of you paying for such things as
EverCrap, it's half the price you're currently paying, and it's for
real games. While it's still out of my price range, it is
something I may consider at a future date, when I have more money.
It's October again (already? Where'd the rest of the year go?!), so I've
once again repalced Setzer with the Duncan Pumpkin GPK image. This year,
I know better than to try to make a Haloween layout for the site.
Lately, people have been asking me for the various utilities I run while
online. In an effort to help out, I will now list them here, along with
links to their homepages.
AnalogX's POW! - This is an excellent, free pop-up killer. When you
get a pop-up that you don't want, just click the icon in the system
tray, and double click on the window's name. Any time a pop-up with
that window title appears, it will automatically be closed. You can get
my Pow.dat file here, which already has tons of sites in it. Simply
copy it over the existing Pow.dat file.
AnalogX's CookieWall - This is an excelent, free cookie manager. It
will scan your internet cache for cookies, which you can view with a
simple right-click on it's icon in the system tray. Any new cookies will
be displayed in the middle pane. You can either move a cookie to the
left pane, where CookieWall will delete it as soon as it detects it,
move it to the right pane, where CookieWall will automatically accept it,
or just delete it altogether.
Mail Washer - This is an excellent, donateware SPAM stopper. You
configure your e-mail accounts (currently, only POP accounts are
supported), and it will log in to your account, check for new messages,
and download their headers. It then displays them in a list, where you
can mark an e-mail as being from a friend, to be deleted from the server
without having to download it, or, best of all, if it's SPAM, you can
blacklist the sender. This causes MailWasher to bounce a copy of the
SPAM right back to the sender, along with a message that your e-mail
address is invaild. Once you've processed all the SPAM, you're left with
the real e-mail you want. Even though it's donateware, the downloadable
version is not crippled in any way, so if you don't want to pay for it,
you don't have to. If you don't want to pay, the author only asks you
to use word of mouth to let others know about his product.
Naviscope - This product is great! It blocks ads, javascript,
blinking text, sounds, cookies, backgrounds and pop-ups, it prefetches
pages, hides the referring document and/or system information, updates
your clock with the NIST Atomic Time, and more! It seems like the
program isn't developed any more (it was last updated in 2000 or 2001),
but it still works great!
Ad-Aware - This is the tool to have! It will check you
computer for spyware, and give you the option to remove it! In my
opinion, EVERY computer user should have this, and an anti-virus
program installed. Everything else is optional.
Wow. I do believe that's everything...

2:51p ~ Testing The News...
This is a test. This is only a test. I bet it doesn't work...
Edit: Well, it didn't, but I managed to make it work, and I did it all
by myself. Huzzah!
Tuvai News is a great addition to the site. The index page is smaller,
and now I don't have to edit and upload it or the news archive (which
could mean editing anywhere from one to 3 pages, depending on the date)
everytime I want to add a new news item.
Now, I don't promise that this means more updates from me. I'm still
lazy.
Thanks, Tuvai, for helping my laziness!
And yes, I realize that the page looks odd. When I get six more news
items up here, it should look a little better...

3:54p ~ New Topsites List
As you can see by the new button, I've joined Tuvai's Topsites list.
Please take a moment to click on it and vote for me. Thanks.

3:58p ~ EDS Mario Bros. Updated!
Yup. You can now download EDS Mario Bros. v0.64 from the EDS Mario
Bros. section.
While uploading it, I noticed that I forgot to upload and release
v0.54, so it's been an even longer wait for the next version than I
thought... Sorry about that.

12:39p ~ Modified Layout, New Poll
I've modified the layout to better accomodate the news script. Now it's
just in a simple table with a background.
I've also added a new poll, which, unfortunatly, I can't modify to fit
the table, unless I pay them. Anyway, the voting ends in 1 week (on
11/01), and I'll have a new poll, for SNES emulators, in it's place.
If you vote for Other, please, please, please specify what "Other" is.

2:30a ~ Link Page Update & Cleanup
I've converted the links page to php, and removed the non-working sites.
Two things came of this:
1 - There are now just 20 sites linked, including the 5 former Links of
the Moment.
2 - The page size was reduced from 16.63k to 0.81k. Much, much faster
loading.

3:36p ~ More Links
Wheee! I've added 4 more links. They're links to online comics that I
feel are funny, and worth reading. One of the new links, Bob & George,
also has tons of fan comics (which I don't read), and some good
sub-comics (two of which I read: Jailhouse Blues and Oddball Comics),
so that should keep you busy... er... *runs*
